The thoughtful sort

Jen Watt photoHi! I'm Jen Watt, New Zealand's first-ever certified KonMari Consultant.

I teach Marie Kondo's amazingly effective method to organise your home and your belongings once and for all, so you can better see what's really important in your life and have the time and space to do that thing... rather than getting distracted or de-railed by your stuff. Hey, stuff can be fun - but not when it's interfering with your real life!

I'm based in Wellington and would love to help you enjoy the ease, freedom and joy that comes from living in a truly tidy, organised home.

Services

One-on-one in-home consultation

$300 for each 5-hour lesson (lessons are typically 5 hours' long - it's long enough to make great progress, but not long enough to tire us out!)

How many lessons will you need? Well, it depends on the size and contents of your home, how much homework you want to do between lessons, and your tidying style (some people power through it, while others enjoy having quite the farewell chat when saying goodbye to items). At the end of your first lesson, I'll give you an estimate of the number of sessions, and you're in control at all times as to how to space out the lessons.

KonMari Deep Dive

Do you live outside Wellington? Busy and want results fast? Chat with me about a KonMari Deep Dive. I'm currently the only certified KonMari Consultant in New Zealand so I feel like, if someone outside Wellington wants help, I want to be able to provide that help!

I will travel to you, stay locally and come to your home each day while we work through the lessons, while you discover what sparks joy for you and we get your home tidied once and for all, category-by-category. Standard lesson rates apply, plus travel and accommodation costs (I'm a simple traveller - I will not be staying in fancy-schmancy places).

About me

In early 2016, Marie Kondo's book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up dropped into my life, completely out of the blue. I immediately identified with it and wondered whether it could cure me of my life-long clutter problem - that always came back no matter how well I thought I'd cleaned and sorted my stuff - not to mention the stress of never being able to find anything - aaargh!

Six months later my home was completely in order. It felt so serene and I could immediately lay my hands on anything I needed. I also knew with every fibre of my being that what Marie Kondo says is true - once you've tidied up properly, you'll never rebound back to clutter.

I also knew that I loved this process so much that I wanted to continue doing it. I wanted to help other people get their homes in order. I wanted to join them in the fun of tidying their homes (yes, miraculously, the KonMari method is fun!) and to help them get it done much quicker than can be done when you do it alone.

By the end of that year, I found myself in New York, attending Marie Kondo's first consultant training course held outside of Japan. This was step one in my year-long journey to becoming a fully certified KonMari Consultant.

Curious about what my home looks like? Well, it's an example of how the KonMari method has you tidy to meet your own vision of your ideal home and lifestyle. My vision centred around a light, bright, organised, but still interesting home that I could share with others - and I've achieved all that beyond my wildest dreams... tidying my home gave me the physical and mental space to finally redecorate, which I'd been day-dreaming about for the previous 17 years... and then having a more stylish, effortlessly tidy home allowed me to share it with many more people than I expected - thanks to Airbnb, I have the joy of welcoming a steady stream of beautiful and amazing travellers to my home and my wonderful city (which, of course, also allows you to have a sticky-beak at my apartment!).
